Retinol is one of the most effective ingredients in dermatology for fine lines, wrinkles, and improving skin texture — but irritation and dryness are the biggest reasons people quit.
As a dermatologist, one of the most common questions I get is:
“What moisturizer should I use with retinol?”
In this video, I break down the best moisturizers to pair with retinol depending on your skin type and tolerance level. The right moisturizer can make the difference between giving up on retinol… and getting amazing results.
We’ll cover moisturizers for:
• Acne-prone skin
• Very dry skin
• Dehydrated skin that needs hydration
• Sensitive skin or damaged skin barrier

After my retinol and Neutragena gel cream with HA I apply a thin layer of Aquafor or Castor oil, depending on my mood!
What about La roch posay lipikar?
Quick question. I work graveyard, 11-7. I sleep all day. Do I still need a sunscreen if I’m going out at night and will be inside a building for 8 hours? Naturally I will use a sunscreen on my days off.
I have been using Tretinoin for a few years and I just use a thin layer of vaseline over it after it dries.
